Poem -

Galaxy Map

A young girl lies on her side

gazing at the faded hospital wall

counting all the stars

she can see,

of

her sprawling metropolis,

her galaxy map,

her spiderweb of lines

Though the windows are

shut

not a star in sight

But the wall is her playmate,

the wall is her friend,

the wall is the only one to comfort her

when she is scared,

when her emaciated figure

is wracked with coughs,

haunting worse than any nightmare.

When she looks at the wall,

she sees family long forgotten,

cities of cracks

and dreams

that she too,

is becoming a star.
