Ghost

Alone and forgotten for years to come,
Doomed to a lonely life after death,
Even though all is said and done,
You stay watching, envying, every breath.Β
No promise of an end, no death to wish for,
Nobody comes to ease the pain,Β
Against fate in a one sided war,
Can't even feel the wind and rain.
Go haunt a house, try to make friends,
Let them join this world with you!Β
But they all meet much happier ends,
Your still alone, there's nothing new.Β
Β
Watching the living for years,
Wishing for love, or even to be seen,
For lonliness is the worst of fears,
The world, you see, is cruelly mean.Β
You cause some trouble, have some fun!
Wish for a parter, a parter in crime,
Dream you aren't the only one!Β
Maybe, someday, there'll be someone.Β

There's such a sense of hopeless, irredeemable yearning in this poem. You've captured the very essence of what it is to haunt the world, without being a part of it. And surely, that is what it is to truly be a 'Ghost'.
Towards the end, there is a little bit ofΒ playfulness, a little chink of hope; but sad...so very sad.
Lovely.
