The Ghosts of Paris, Will Come

The Ghosts of Paris, Will Come

when the night comes to Paris

the voices of the ancient poets

will recite bitter sweet soliloquies

standing beside the banks

of the river Seine

and the words will echo down steam

past the gates of marble palaces

 comforting the lonely hearts, unseen;

hidden in the shadows,

of cobble stone alleyways.

Then light and life,

will colour once again

 the long forgotten

 cobwebbed corridors

of the sleeping grey cathedrals

Chris!  Lovely write!…It is Romantic with ethereal touches of love whispered throughout the ages in this beautiful city of historic sites and wonderful tales of gallentry and duels.  It truly is a city that inspires love. However, while this is going on above ground underneath the city lights are the catacombs…their ghosts are dangerous!

Valerie thanks a lot for comment,  Paris is very cool by day, but at night I've never seen a place spring into pure magic like that place....I didn't see the catacombs but for sure that city must have a lot of angry dangerous ghosts; after the bloody revolution, but for a traveller it is quite a beautiful and unique place, I wish that I could transport myself back there this minute to stay for a week or two, I have to go back...cheers

Lily Mae wow, a very sweet comment indeed, thank you....oh as far as past lives; I believe that by simply believing or not believing something doesn't make it real or unreal;  if somebody doesn't believe in gravity or believe in gravity, gravity is not staying up late worried about it, lol...great comment; very expressive

mark you should go my friend, let the city speak to you....I wish I was there longer than I was, but so help me I'm going back; there is a hill that the painters stood on and viewed the city. wow!  I never had the chance to go there.....very flat city and then that tower, lol....it needs to be experienced....thanks for reading this, many poems I want to write about Paris...
