Gift Wrapped

Gift Wrapped

For our battle is not against flesh and blood... (Ephesians 6:12)

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

An old memory
perhaps a grievance

falls into your bunker,
while you're dismantling your gun

Whatever you do,
don't pull the p...

Too late!
The fumes fill the air

and you are frozen;
zoned out and
out of action

Eventually,
your senses start to return

Mind still foggy,
you get back to your gun

About to polish it,
when a white dove flies in:

A flapping distraction,
with a note rolled around its leg

Something about a "common enemy"

Don't read that propagand---a!
Oops too late

You start a chat with your battalion

and detract from
the immediacy of your current foe

Then, when the meaningless gasbagging's over

A plane flies overhead,
dropping flyers that fall like autumn leaves

"New weapons on sale!
Discounts for allies,
tell your colonel;
it's a must buy for modern combat!"

So a group of you write a message to your colonel,
letting him know

Then it's back to business...

You're about to put your bullets in, but

suddenly, a bottle drops at your feet
Message says:

"There's a traitor among you,
watch out!"

You finish loading your bullets,
and wave your gun at your own men

"Which one of you is a plant?"

By now you're battalion is surrounded

You've lost the war
