Give Me Shelter
Give Me Shelter
I fell victim to your poison embrace
All shelter was gone without a trace
You came into my life like a mighty hurricane
Crashing down the tracks like a runaway train
But once in your arms I could never be myself
Always had to wear the face of somebody else
Could never have imagined what you had in store
But I was never the same as I was in years before
You placed my heart and hands in chains
Tried many times to escape but it was all in vain
I placed barbed wire around my tender heart
So that you could no longer tear it apart
You turned all of my dreams into nightmares
And you didn’t even have the heart to care
You stole my heart just like a thief in the night
How I wish you had never come into my sight
Your love is an oncoming winter storm
I have to sit by the fire just to keep warm
You are just like a wolf spider in his lair
You weave your web of lies without a care
Many times you left my heart bleeding on the ground
And I lost a piece of myself that no longer can be found
I will escape from you even if I have to crawl
Wonder how much further I have to fall
Give my heart shelter from the pouring rain
And provide me with a remedy to all of this pain
As for the rest my life I have the only key
Only I possess the power to set myself free
