Giving up

Giving up
By Sharon Maria Moemise
Feeling the cold, hard steel betwixt my fingers
the smell of cordite in the air lingers
I close my eyes, shutting them tight
Should I? Could I? Who wins this fight?
Why does pain feel so at home in my life
Muddling my senses, cutting like a knife,
Always on the doorstep of my sanity
Fighting to remove all traces of humanity
I try to remember the cause of my breakdown
I wrestle my thoughts from a seed already sown
Is it worth it to cut my life's memories so short
My existence, my soul, threatening to abort
I feel the cold, hard steel betwixt my fingers
The smell of cordite in the air lingers
I close my eyes against the glare of the sun
then unwind my fingers to toss away the gun

Sharon,
"Happy early Easter"..... A very well constructed poem, shedding light on and dealing with, the thoughts of suicide..... It was good to read in this case, rational reasoning, prevailing in the end..Very powerful poem of reality by many, whom in their outcome, leans heavily in favor of the brandished gun....Enjoyed (all) the stanzas conglomerated, in this (intensity) delivered poem.......A display of temptations, that didn't win out in the end, even for all reasons noted, (why it should have).....Very (passionate play for life), displayed in this poem.....Jim
Thank you, Jimmy. Your comment is truly encouraging
Sharon,
You are quite welcome my friend and if this poem, (some way or some how), found itself speaking the heart of the presenting poetess, (please) know, "you have many here on this site in your corner"......Do us all a favor and continue picking up your pen, when you feel unlike the you, which allows you to wake each day, with an un-forced smile or whom you are most custom too..Your poetry, has a beautiful value attached, within your words and ones we are most appreciative, in being allowed to read....
Take Care,Jim
Jim, you are too kind. I'm grateful for poets like yourself who understand the depth of this story I'm telling through my poetry. I love you for understanding and I appreciate your uplifting comments.
You are more than welcome Sharon, (criticism) has no existing forum here on this site, only supportive measures, for all whom visits, introducing their skills or simply flaunting them, with hopes of their prowess to stay....You are a powerful writer Sharon, allow us to experience, (the full potential), of your (attention grabbing), literary works of art...
I hope your Easter, has been full of sun and joyful smiles, my friend....
Do take care,
Jim
