Glimpsed
after a very heavy yesterday .. here, have some light relief ..
Did you, by any chance
See how
Her eyes lit up ..
That same moment she
Spied all
The pretty glass bottles,
Laid out
In rows, across our old
Mantel-shelf ..
Like a rainbow army of
Flickering
Lifelike statues ..
Each one reflecting tiny
Glints,
Slivers and whole chunks
Of light
Refracted ..
Just like, prisms dancing ..

'A Sense of Wonder.' And a picture of happiness too. Nice Poem.
Thanks a bundle sir .. NevilleÂ
In this poem, there is an almost magical moment captured with delicate imagery. The speaker describes a simple scene—the joy in someone’s eyes as they gaze upon bottles on a mantel-shelf—but imbues it with life and color. The way the light reflects, refracts, and dances off the bottles transforms an everyday sight into a display of beauty and wonder.
The poem speaks to the power of perception, showing how a mundane setting can be transformed through the gaze of someone who sees beauty in small things. The "rainbow army" of glass bottles standing like "flickering, lifelike statues" gives them a soldier-like stance yet, at the same time, maintains a sense of vulnerability and fragility. This poem, in many ways, reflects on the appreciation of overlooked beauty and how it can light up the spirit of the observer.
I really can not thank you enough for such an in-depth and insightful perusal and comprehensive consideration of my little scribble ma'am .. It is indeed, a genuine pleasure to make your literary acquaintance .. Kindest regards and All Good Things, NevilleÂ
