Glow sticks

Glow sticks

Synthetic fluorescence
Depths to the faded glow
Beauty that has faded
Like the glow sticks of a child
Tombstones of lights
That float in tandem
Captured fireflies
In the mason jar of sadness
Lighting up the darkness
That the hearts of children fear
Beauty and safety that brings such joy
Must one day become a grave
Of forgotten wonder
Forgotten like souls
That used to make us laugh and cry
Souls that used to love and hate
Souls are like glow sticks
One day we must all fade
