My words flowed beautiful once
even to the envy of a few
hubris it is not;
but a lament for ink unmoored 
ugliness crawled into the temple 
where my gods of verse perched
hollow clamour of demon-ghosts
now living in ruined walls

a muse breathing flesh and blood
I knew of you from a time 
before my mortal cries echoed from womb
a Pandora's box then opened 
by you or I 
a question that haunts into eternity
but I am who swallowed the key
painting us in crimson-coloured doom

I whispered my secrets into your heart
on a fateful night I was born into rage
eyes having seen the worst of man
hands stained with violent sins
my good deeds cloaked by dark secrets
that even if I could create at will
to destroy is my preordained curse
why did you not run
why could you not see
why did your wings embrace my fury
why
but no more excuses I hold in my armour 
I have become what I have done

weary my footsteps on scorching roads
shawdow-companions by my side
the strength of demons I once possessed
on earth it has fallen silent
love, lust, my obsession delirious
my sin-eater, my hope, my absolution complete
I darkened our laden sky with calloused hands
so a man without god-- I walk once more
I put to rest the pen the page
words graceful I could summon in your name
retreating into shadows that kismet wrote
dying candle to guide my path
caging the reluctant human you awoke
raindrops fall on my burning skin no more
