Poem -

GODDESS AND THE DRAGON

Tell your daughters -
A Nubian princess -
Gave birth to gods -
light from the darkness
came a battle -
Between angels and Demons
who looked like us -
Over who would be king
Don't kill the messenger -
but written in the stars -
came sons of ice
why the church hates women
some pray to a dead god - Or pray to a Dragon
what they teach their sons -
To make war against women
Don't call it love -
unless it has a power
Even the Devil
wants to plant his seed
Before the Bible -
The children of god -
Once knew their Queen -
chased by the dragon
He needed her power
now the whores of Babylon-
sacrifice children
where are the warriors ?
The Dragon has soldiers
Divided armies -
Who fights for the women ?

The Dragon hides -
Behind men in power
makes women jealous -
'Till some think like men
There must be blood -
Only power they respect
In a war for peace -
Between the Goddess and the Dragon
like the Phoenix -
She'll rise from the ashes
To save the earth -
When the gods make love
might have to die -
And come back as a God
'Tilthe Dragon is dead -
And the Goddess reborn

Thank you Tina,

Some poets merely put words on paper. I don't give power to women- I recognize the power they already have. Almost heretical for a male poet in a male-dominated society. Some of my readers might scoff at my Afrocentricity- but it's posed as an alternative to a Eurocentric male-dominated hierarchy. If all civilizations are built upon their myths and legends- perhaps our present civilization needs to remember a spiritual Mother as well as Father. This is not an invention of mine- it's a fact that lay buried in the ruins.
