Going Home

Going Home

Once there was a way
to get back home
but now
The autumn leaves
has since fallen
decayed
leaving no residue
to what was once were
only memories
of the love generated

Once there was a way.
to return
to the roots
where values were
born
Today only memories
 through dreams
and senses
that I am reminded
by what was instilled
in us

Once there was a way.
to create that feeling
that captures youth's moments
through song
In the present
verse becomes
the ramblings of
an old man

Once there was a way.

Yet Is there still a way

To get back home?

Home, a multilayered proposition. Home of one’s youth only in fading memories. Home in what’s  all around will always be there till it’s not.
very nice!

Thank You John.  Both of my parents died in the last 5 years ( my mom a year ago this month).  My sisters are far away, and my youth even further.  At 57 I am trying to capture what many us now feel as humans

I understand. At 71 I have no family save for my lovely wife.
