Gone

You were once so beautiful
You were once so kind
You were once so delicate
You were once my life
Seems that your fate has eaten you
Seems that all roses have died
You brought beauty to the earth
and now it's dried
The petals on the flowers
Now a wilted mess
The water in the lakes filled with blood
Yours I must confess
You were so lovely
Like a red rose
You were strong
You held on
Said the shadows would not disturb you
Said you were at peace now
But no
You lied
I knew when I saw you that very last night
When you were so cold to me
I knew you silently quivered in fright
I knew when I saw that look in your eyes
This wasn't a surprise
I did not cry
The world though has become cold
My life without you is not so fun
I miss your summer locks
I miss the sun
I reach out my hand sometimes
To touch the petals of the wilted roses
I wish things could be young again
I crave freedom
But I feel so trapped
This old house
where we lived our life
These old memories
They cut like a knife
Bringing tears to my eyes
Wrinkles spread across my cheeks
You would have been just like me
Remember you wanted this?
Remember it was your dream
I did it for you
I thought we were a team
When the wind blows so bitter
and cold
I can still feel your heartbeat under my nose.
and sometimes I look up to the sky and
I know
that one day too I will fly.
