Good Tidings

Good Tidings

Under a drenching bath of sweet sunlight,
by ocean spray and dawn song,
he could hear the chiming masts
of those berthed yachts in the crèche of the bay
making soft organic melody

The open drive-in cathedral of the morning
screened a show of guiltfree rapture
on the walls of his skin;
wafts of fruity pastry bakes
and fresh brew of local café
completing the glassy mosaic in melanin

Dropplets of sweat turned to pearls of refreshing ice
under the shade of a large pine
They snailed into the spirals of his ears
along with the great news
"You're a daddy!"
