Good Times

A crisp autumn night
Beautiful but cold
A sky riddled with stars
In all its heavenly vastness
Keeps imaginations fed endlessly.
A full moon's light stands guard by
Uncovering normally hidden shadows
Easing our fears as we travel.
Barrel fires keep us toasty
Cold beers make stories more interesting
Allowing the mellow to flow freely
Like embers from the fire.
Stories are shared and
Jokes are told as laughter
Echoes into the horizon.
Hearts are opened as
Thoughts are shared while
Conversing for hours on end
Til someone takes a nod
Or the stars begin to fade
Making way for daylight
Which is an all too apparent sign
From above that y'all need to
Take your butts in the house and go to bed.
No need to put out the fire
Let it go on its own.
Comin' in with fire kissed skin
Smellin' like smoke but with a
Cleared and settled mind,
A comforted heart and
A warmed soul.
These are the good times
We'll reflect back on
For years to come.
Cherish them.
