Goodbye

Goodbye

Almost in silence you appeared.
Pushing all else to one side and relentlessly
embedding  yourself in our lives.
Daytimes of watching heat haze mirages
And longing for cooling rain
that never came
Bees meandering lilac clover
whispering a gentle hum in my ear.
Your kiss caressed my brow
 a fragrant airless breeze,
so welcoming.. so intimate,
that the nighttime’s spent bathed in salty sweat
were almost endurable.
Each morning that  I awoke to you,
was a rebirth
A touch of heaven renewing my spirit
I loved your presence,your constancy,
your sultry brilliance
Yet now you have to go ...
together with the distant hum of melancholic birds
waiting to fly
My heart will go with you though
As I bid yet again,
Summer
Goodbye.

Oh wow I just love your personification of summer! What an utter delight to the imagination as your words paint lushes imagery of that sun drenching season. Makes me want summer to do a quick U-turn

Many thanks for sharing :)

Aw thank you so much Gwen! I usually find something to love about every season..but somehow Summer is the one season I most miss seeing the end of..it’s like a comfortable  loving friend leaving..but hey ho Autumn with all its rustic promise is upon us so, on with the woolies, and onwards onto the Christmas season! Really appreciate your reading and lovely comments! Thank you x

You are very welcome and yes I like the warmth better than the cold winters and dark days. Haven't got too many woolies out yet. Have got wellies out though as constant rain. Bring back the sun 🌞 x

Wow!! LODIGIANA!!....the phrasing is STUNNINGLY well delivered in this wonderfully personified painting of Summer's brief but most welcome coming and sadly necessary going!!.....Truly killer phrasing my friend ~

~ "Your kiss caressed my brow
                              A fragrant airless breeze
                             So welcoming...so intimate..."

ALL STARS & PINNED!!.......Ever the pleasure dear poet sister!!.....LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xo  : )

Thank you so much Tony. For me summer is like an old faithful friend that one never tires of encountering and spending time with .Your words are always so positive and uplifting.. particularly now as we are in the midst  of quite a big house removal and all the stress this brings ..frustratingly including loss of internet  for periods of time so your comments are a Godsend...I promise to get  myself more organised  soon and back to regular reading pieces and writing
Stay well always and  and importantly..stay happy my poet brother. Lodi xx

Beautiful, most beguiling and in places intimate for that the love affair so many can reflect on and generously share when experiencing summer.
Lodigiana it reads like meeting a stranger and I mention love affair which develops is merely fleeting.
Superb to read and a change of poetry pace with a well written narrative poem you have warm heartedly offered. And is so good to see and read.
Keep well my friend and keep writing.x.

Summer v youth.
Summer comes and goes
but the youth stays.

Hope you're well, dear lodigiana.
