Poem -

If I were...

If I were...

I spend a lot of time just lately
looking in my purse,
and moving things about
without an aim.
I take my phone out, stare at it
and fiddle with the keys,
then go to look back in my purse again....

I take my diary out and turn the pages one by one
and then pretend to smile at some thing seen.
And if I have a pen to hand, I’ll scribble something quick,
then take a sip again of cold caffeine.

I wish I were a child again,
without  the nerves and fear.
I’d find it easier I think.
Instead of sitting, shaking here

My friends all think I’m confident!
truth is it’s really hard,
whenever meeting people new
I go through this facade .

The people to the left of me are talking
in a crowd
The ones all sitting on my right
are  laughing ...very loud

I’m in the middle
on my own
and wish tonight would end.
If I were just a kid again
I’d ask them  ‘be my friend?’

Oh there is a poetry God! And welcome back Lodigiana and what a way to return in such vivid and warmly welcomed poetry style as well.
Sublime and superb writing on being that cool and self esteemed projection of who we really deep down perhaps yearn and really want to be and stay.
But never do for life's not like that or that easy.
But we can all wish and wish hard.
It is always a joy to read you my friend.
I hope all is well with you and those around you also and a warmly and deeply appreciated welcome back.X.

Thank you so much Shaun! It has been a while and I have so missed not writing, but what with moving house any day, family health problems and other commitments too many to mention I had to take  a break..but hopefully will find more time to get back to my passion once again. I now will need more hours than there are in the day to catch up on my poetry reading but I will! Missed all you guys and your wonderful musings. Xx

Lodigiana whatever the reason's that's all part of this thing we call life.
And it all comes good perhaps slowly but at least moves in the right direction positively and assuredly.
And one step at a time and poem too for that matter.
And just in case you didn't catch it from me first time and also now by the looks of it good Greg's comment... WELCOME BACK!!! Xx.

Thank you so much Punzy! I think there are many of us who often  feel this way when in new Company...we pretend to be busy  looking in bags, playing with our phone..in fact doing anything to not make it look as though we are feeling a little ‘left out’..I spoke about this recently to my sister who is super cool and confident and she admitted she feels this  way too  and does exactly the same ...I would never have guessed!

Hello & Good mane Lodigiana,

As something of a newbie here, I was very recently encouraged by a mutual friend to seek you out and consider some of your poetic works ... and now I feel obliged to say, this introduction to them, was exactly that ..
I am indeed impressed and fully intend to embark upon a long journey of such seeking ..

All Good Things,

Neville :)
