Goodbye

I can see him from across the way.

No fear do I see shine from his eyes,

Yet his smile is cold today

.

Why is he unmoving, a dog commanded to stay.

I hear a whimper, no a cry,

I can see him from across the way

.

The air around is dark, though I see the suns ray.

He once seemed oh so shy,

Yet his smile is cold today

.

He is stopped in front of the black bay.

Like his wishful thinking, is a wish to die,

I can see him from across the way

.

Wait, he’s moving closer to the water, but I know he wants to stay.

Wait stop, i see him wink, that ledge is too high,

Yet his smile is cold today

.

I yell to him, “please don’t go away”,

His eyes gleam ”this isn’t goodbye”,

I can see him from across the way,

Yet his smile is cold today.
