Grand Papa Tucker

Grand Papa Tucker

My senses
still recall the
coffee purcolating
eggs frying
fresh orange squeezed
as you call me
to awake
as there
are more
fish bites
before
the sun rises

My spirit
recollects
the faith
you held,
the neighborly
love
you expressed
to a stranger,
and the cup
of forgiveness
that you always
kept full
to pour on
those
who have
or will
do you
harm

My heart
still
hoards
the significance
of having honor
even when
denunciation
would be
the less
accountable
route
to follow

Having
a conscious
Knowing right
from wrong
was the lesson
that you wove
into
me
to a point
that it became
a muscle
memory
response

Though
the material things
 you left
your loved
ones
was limited
the wealth
in the testimony
that you
provided in living
will carry on
for generations
to come...........................
