Grandma’s poorly 🥲

Grandma’s poorly 🥲

The left side of her mouth dropped down, as she drooled damp drips

A knife and fork fell to the floor, along with three crinkled fritter chips

Her daughter had noticed the teacup was rattling, on her Mothers last slurping slips

And that sirloin steak was left on her plate, still sliced into slender strips

Something was seriously wrong with Grandma today

Come to think of it, she hadn’t heard her singing at the kitchen sink, in her usual way

The last words Lucy remembered from her Grandma, before she ran out to play

“Eeh pet Lamb I will call you when your teas ready, don’t wander far love, okay!!”

But now she was leaning over unconsciously, on her wooden seat

And she couldn’t stand up by herself at all, on her two slippered feet

Even Lucys Mam just like Grandma, looked as if she’d seen a ghost, they were both as white as a sheet

“Hurry up Lucy go and get Dad coz Grandmas poorly, in the butcher’s shop, on the corner of the street…

Poor old Grandma Gracie wasn’t well at all

Stupidly she hid her dizzy spells so well, after last night’s little fall

She just lay there seeing stars as her ears ticked like the cuckoo clock, that was on the wall in her hall

And eventually, when she came to her senses, she struggled to the sofa, on all fours with a crawl…
