Grandpa and the Congressman

Grandpa and the Congressman

(early 1970’s)

Grandpa Short worked for
Fuller Cement Company.
He studied engineering at
Penn State University Main Campus
and is a two-time patent holder.

His job was problem solving and
he was sent all around the world
to deal with clients.
He was sent to Washington D.C. to
meet with the local Congressman
about some issue.

While sitting at the A.B.E.  (Allentown,
Bethlehem and Easton) Airport,
a flight attendant announces the
flight is overbooked and if someone
volunteers for the next flight
will get a free ticket as a thank-you.

Some soul raises his hand,
and Grandpa is on is way
via plane to the Capital Building.

At the Congressman’s office,
the secretary tells James Curtis Short,
the Congressman has been delayed.
and will be in the office in a few hours.

The Congressman finally arrives,
greets Grandpa,
apologizes for being late.
The soul at the
ABE Airport who
claimed the

free
ticket

was the Lehigh Valley's
Congressman.
