Greed
Greed
An Intense and selfish desire
for wealth, food or power
A common problem
We all have to see
This evil thing called greed
It takes over when we least expect
All the things we need the most
Like church and government
Even on the job
this green eyed monster
Always trying to rob
Someone of what is rightfully theirs
Like savings, love and political power
Delusions are its only strength
To delude and persuade us right into
A selfish trap where only they gain
deception is what they use to sway
People Into believing their lies
The whole time trying to hide
Motives that smell of rot
Hidden behind an evil plot

Hey Sarita!!.......this is such an insightful write..........the many angles at which you approach your subject matter is VERY creative........I felt as though I were in the mind of a thinker........a surgeons perspective at conveying the truths wrapped up in that green-eyed monster that robs!!...........well conceived & beautifully delivered..........well done my friend.............Love and Rockets!!...........T xo
Thank you so much Tony, I take your compliments to heart. Your an inspiration to me and I am awed that you enjoy my style. You too must be a surgeon thinker to hear the many subjects I hid in this write. I started the poem on governmental greed of power but was lead to the many other aspects of this little devil. My poem actual starts with the Webster definition of GREED...lol...my friend asked me to write one on this subject after my Poem on the Preamble. Thanks again for your positive encouragements ...:-)
Sarita, I enjoyed reading this thoughtful perspective on one of the 'seven deadly sins' your approach is intelligent sober minded and very disciplined; you don't take the poem places outside of the subject, and that is refreshing to read, excellent subject for poetry and excellent articulation, superb write...cheers
'This evil thing called greed'
Thank you, I'm proud you enjoyed it...I'm also astonished that you compliment me so well. I think as long as we have a passion for or against the subject matter it holds the power and energy we put forth, in my case flusterations. In other poems of mine it would be love. But Luke warm is just that ...be either hot or cold...Is my philosophy...:-)
