Greed Breeds
Winds of change sweep across lifes open plains,
As I formulate ever more elaborate cunning plans.
Due to not wishing to stagnate where I find myself,
I have thought of devious ways to increase wealth !
You can never be secure living on a nickel or dime,
So from today avoiding responsibilities is my crime !

Why be one of the caring millions struggling to survive,
When I can join the greedy self-interested who thrive ?
I really don't want to be like them in any shape or form,
But needs must as our world becomes ever more torn !
From today I strike out with those who share the least,
So tomorrow I will sit enjoying the most indulgent feast.

Hi Richard I am puzzled over your poem although it is well written as always.
After reading your poetry for a while now i would say you are the most selfless
person, always encouraging to others with wise words and a loving
heart I can only think maybe this write is a perception of someone else
or how you perceive the world

You are right. This is satire related to how I view the world and the increasing levels of greed ! It is based on a person who has no choice in a world that is becoming less caring but to follow a misguided path.
Caring and sharing is everything to me ! Helping others is all I want to do.
This is written from anothers perspective who lacks options due to what matters not being valued highly enough.
