Greed's Illusion

Greed's Illusion

Thought success was vital
Clobbered for the top
Craving power and money
Till she couldn't stop

Wanted clothes and jewels
Homes on fancy streets
Luxurious surroundings
Gourmet food to eat

Fancy cars and horses
Hand-maids at her feet
Thought that fame and fortune
Would make her life complete

When her wish was granted
She overjoyed
All outlandish fantasies
Started to employ

As she wore her jewels
She encountered a great man
He tore of all her baubles
Destroying her great plan

Her limousine was ransacked
Her driver then was shot
All that she got used to
Soon would be forgot

He destroyed her fancy mansion
And attacked her staff
Broke her safe deposit boxes
Escaping with a laugh

She thought money was everything
Happiness stemmed from it
But she couldn't understnad
Where fortune then would lead

Now her wants are simple
She's dispensed with fame
Even if one is wealthy
She's not free from fame
