Green Eyes

Man if this pride of lions would just move on,
I could jump on these impala before they're gone!
I see the slowest one; he's coming near the tree,
I could pounce on him, he'd never know it's me!
I am sure they can't see or smell where I'm at,
Breeze is blowing in favor of this stealthy cat!
If I don't get a chance to dive onto this group,
Tonight I'll visit trees; housing that baboon troop!
They don't see at night too well; up amongst the bark,
But I see them perfectly; anywhere in the dark!
Lions are moving, impala are coming to graze!
I just need one, it will feed me for days.
They don't detect me, but I can smell their breath,
That's why they fear and label me, green eyed death!

Awesome poem Jim. Such a great topic and as usual with you, great story telling. I could visualize it all like I was watching a documentary. Some much appreciated humor thrown in. Excellent write my friend β

beautiful brother
thank you Greg T my brother!
Green eyes indeed, but out of necessity I wouldn't dare venture for a closer look.
A great theme to touch on and so well written to give voice to and share said mindset also.
Elegantly done and one to reread to take in once more for such an engaging and well themed and balanced write.
Thanks again Jim for writing a touch of wildlife class and that's one cool looking big cat.
