Grief

Theres a smell death leaves.
As the soul escapes and the flesh
Ā is all thats left in this worldĀ
Belonging to us that grieve.
Theres a ghost that haunts the hallways
Longing for her last goodbye
And bitter kiss.
Not her you see, but something waiting.
In the aftermath of losing her,
As tears fall and hope breaks
While we try to find ourselves
Without the part of us thats her.
There are silent screams we conceal,
That try to call her name one last time
While we hope she went knowing
The stars wonāt shine without her.
