Hallway High

Glassy eyed stares

Festering naive glares

Ego's bursting at theĀ seems

for an unobtainable ten second purpose

Self esteem crumbling at a recycled derogatory comment

pleading statutory for a pleasure you both enjoyed

Sex is like a baseball game

You don't feel guilty and you hit all the basesĀ

The reeking odor of insecurities fills the nostrils

Faint from scents of odor repellents and faked smiles

You'd almost believe it was hollywood

except this movie doesn't include a soundtrack,

and Bowling for Soup doesn't reiterate your days

From the drugs passed in circles

And the runner jumping hurdles

As long as you don't get caught

You can secure that scholarship

At least in this prison we can keep our name

But this system still requires a number

Sentenced from 7 till 2 for twelve hard years

and furloughed home like a shuffling deck hand

Wash, rinse and repeat

All day we long for our cigarettes

The drag purifying our days exploits

and reducing our ash in the form of stress

The only way to endure it isĀ

Lecture upon lecture of unneeded information

and reformation and reintegration

where only award is a paper and a white lie

"You're gonna go far kid"

is just an empty excuse

A ballad that we take to heart

while wasting hours forming refuse

Our statements don't matter

and our choices are clueless

Well this is high school

and we all or have all gone through this
