Hands

Hands

There it is,
Your heart in his hands.
You trusted him to cherish it,
To hold on to it, to protect it.
Unknowing of what the future will bring,
You didn't comprehend that his hands would do more damage. 
You tried to get it back 
But his defences had grabbed on
And they weren’t about to release what they had captured. 
You tied a rope around it and tried to pull.
Yes, 
You were successful,
But in the end, 
All you had was a lump of flesh with nothing but rope burn.
