Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel

In a forest deep where shadows play

Two starving children wondered, lost astray

Hansel and Gretel, hand in hand

Sought a path to a sugary land

A house made of sugary treats—a sweet surprise!

Walls made of gingerbread, frosted delight

Sugary windows gleamed in the light

Their eyes gleamed like the stars

They knock at the door

An old witch greeted them with laughter's delight

Her bony fingers, old and fragile

Bones scattered in the corner of the room

Bones of children

Eaten by a cannibalistic witch

Hansel locked in a cage

Gretel chained in the corner of the room

Their bellies fat with baked goods

Desserts of cookies, cakes, and pies

🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧

The witch was fattening them up for dinner

An oven with flames cooking

Gretel pushes the witch in her oven

The witch burning in the flames

Hansel and Gretel escape from the witch's house

A lesson to never take food from witches

Or you might end up getting cooked for dinner

Being Me

Sweets from a stranger. Not a good idea. But, looking at it another way  ... those kids helped themselves to parts of the house, if memory serves me right. That witch must've worked very hard on her home. Sweetly house proud. No wonder she was extremely unhappy with them.

Love your poetic version of this classic tale x
