Happy Halloween
On Halloween Night I
found a stone
it was black and
Phantom Blue. As I
looked at it I saw an
eye that reminded
me of you. In mystic
style it split in two
to give out the
'ghost,' it carried and
then it spun for, such
fun it was to see
its sudden move.
Nobody came when I
cried out or perhaps
it was the stars but
deep within the stone
I saw some prison
bars. And behind the
bars there sat a
witch,(Happy Halloween
was her name)
her dark pointed hat
stuck on her head
and when she saw me
she said: “Come
closer still! For the
endless thrill I can
give you money too.
But first you must
turn the key and let
me wander through.
I mean through that
door into a wonder
world, the one called
'Timbuktu' but if
you've never been it
must look the same
to you.” I didn't
mind at all and besides I
was kind and turned
the key for her.
And the witch withdrew
and then went
through to the world
she wanted to. I
stayed around until
there came a sound
of the banshee lament
as if from the
green Emerald Isle so
fair. But when I
looked to see what it
was, there was
nothing there. The
witch,(Happy H),
then asked me if I
might sing a song but
so late it was into
the night I just made a
wish for any Halloween
treat. To my
surprise there was a
bang and the stars
fell from the sky, a
boat floated on its
own and the dead or
drunks wandered
home and wished they
could die. A
million pumpkins with
candle lights
turned on, wolves
howled the house
down and the white
Unicorn with
flashing horn ran
around the town. My
head started to split
but I just made a
wish as a witch,(Happy
H), cast a spell
upon the Earth and
everything around.
There came a bang, a
fantastic flash
and then snow started
to fall right down
there where the bells
had started to peal
out to mark the time
all the souls filled
up with despair.
Now I'd had enough,
the whisky being
too strong for me, so
I lingered over one
more drink, wished the
world 'good
night' and staggered
home to find my
bed. I found my bed
and more too.
Someone was in it, a
witch from jail, in
my dream, that I once
knew, only Happy
Halloween.

Hi Birgitta
I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. It was a bit of fun and I thought it might be different for a spooky event like Halloween.
Best wishes
