Happy Mother’s Day--Dancing Queen

Before Abba sang their famous song, you were a well known Dancing Queen;
Coupled with your feet, your beauty shone, the prettiest gal they’d ever seen!
You had the looks of a movie star, that oft made men blink twice;
And your toe taps were just legendary, you even danced with Fanny Brice!
Â
Then came one night in forty-one, in the City of Brotherly Love;
When you met the man who stole your heart, sent down from stars above!
You were dancing at a famous place, the “Club Bally” had hired you;
My Father took one look your way, and said “I think I love her true”!
Â
A whirlwind romance then ensued, overshadowed by the war;
As able bodied men were drafted, and both your hearts were tore!
But in June of nineteen forty-two, he got a five day pass;
He came home to sweep you in his arms, and marry his lovely lass!
Â
He got lucky then and stayed stateside, Fort Sill Oklahoma was his base;
After two months he asked you to come, so on a train to him you raced!
You stayed there till May of forty-four, seven months pregnant with little me;
You came home to your Sister’s for my birth, in Perth Amboy New Jersey!
Â
The war would end and Dad came home, to meet his little boy;
For thirty-two years you shared your love, till to Heaven he deployed!
You never married after he left, but you danced, for it was in your genes;
I wish you Happy Mother’s Day, my precious Dancing Queen!
Â
My Blessed Mother, whose stage name was Arlene Dawn, tapped her way to Heaven in January of two thousand three. Â

Hi Larry. Your mom is exceptionally beautiful. Â This is a brilliant tribute to your dearest mom whose love and devotion to your dad stayed even after he left ## she reminds me of my mom who was a good singer and stayed single after dad left. Â He was 30 and mom was 29 left alone with 5 kids to support ## (I was three months old in the womb of my mother when he died.), Â and worked hard as an all round beautician. Â She loved Hollywood, Â American and all English movies, Â books and literature, and a great chef## She passed away at 72 in 1997##
I love how you portrayed your mom's love story till the end of the page ## Mother's memories  will always be a blessing to us ##
Happy Mother's dayÂ
LeahÂ
My Dear Leah,
What a beautiful and tear jerking story you have shared with me. Â I cannot imagine the pain of never having known your Father. Â It is amazing to me, the depth of love your Mother must have had for him, having never remarried. Â Instead, she chose to sing, read books on literature, and lose herself in the Hollywood movies, that given a different set of circumstances, she might have starred in.
As you love how I portrayed my Mother, so do I love how you have shared with all of us, the beautiful memories of yours.
Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

Â
My Dear Debs,
As most women did in those years, my Mother gave up her career after she and my Father got married. Â I would have loved to have seen her dancing professionally, although she and my Father always went out dancing at nightclubs. Â But she never got the show business out of her, and lived her life as a star every day, dressing to the nines, and partying pretty hard with her beloved martinis. Thank you for your lovely words.
Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
