HARBOUR QUAY

He left his true love by the harbour quay
Off to war to fight on land and sea
He promised to return to his true love one day
Such a great pity this damn war got in the way

Five years later the soldier returned once more
To the harbour quay overlooking the sea shore
His true love was there with tears in her eyes
Older for sure and most certainly more wise

Rebuilding their lives is something they would do
Not even war gets in the way of a love so true
