Having fun at the seaside?

Having fun at the seaside
Munching sandy sandwiches for tea
but that’s part of the seaside
There is no where else that I’d rather be
Building sand castles with my bucket and spade whilst Mam, Dad, Pops and Grandma lie on lilos in the shade

Our picnic basket is empty coz we’ve went and scoffed the lot there’s only wrappers for the bin 
sat on our blanket in a shadey spot
We’ve been on the beach allday 
Oh my Oh my how that sizzling sun was hot
Iv’e got sunburnt on my chin
but that’s just fun at the seaside so I’m happy with what I’ve got

Running along the rippled wet sand all the way to the water’s edge, the tide is out
Spying fishing boats and cruising ships on yon horizon
They will be having fun without a doubt
Paddling with our feet in the ebb and flow
Searching under rocky seaweed for creeping crawling crabs below

We will stay on these sandy shores allday until it’s time for us to go back home
Then Mam will print out her photograhs for memories and Grandma may even pen a poem
And Old Pops will tell us stories from the sea about when he was a fisherman sailing with his family

There’s no where quite like the seaside with that salty smell and those seagulls flying by
Scavenging for titbits from your sandwiches as you shout out a  ‘Shoosh and cry”
Haha but that’s just part of the fun lying sunbathing on the golden sand
with your sunshades and your floppy hat and a Margarita in your hand
