Poem -

He hears nothing

He hears nothing

I hear melodious music, I hear chirping birds
but there is one that cannot hear a sound.
His world is filled with silence and stillness.
This deaf child's face captured my heart,
I saw the sadness that was in his heart.
I wish I could give him a big hug
to show I care without being a bug.
You see this child and me are similar in a way.
Both our hearts are broken.
His disability makes him feel inferior,
my weakness is an obstacle in being superior.
Then I realized his world is worst,
I tried to put myself in his shoe.
He cannot hear the droplets of water.
He cannot respond to speech or engage in
conversation, he hears nothing.
I imagined not being able to hear, that's when
I appreciated my ability to hear.
