He Stopped Loving Her Today ( Ode to George Jones)

He Stopped Loving Her Today ( Ode to George Jones)

You twanged like
no other could
about a man
who swore
he would love
his Heartbreak
until the day
he died....

Sitting back
in my pickup
truck
I remembered
tears  rolling
down my
eyes
when I realized
that the reason
He stopped loving
her Today
was because
he had left
this earth
a broken
man....

Unresolved
heartache
can haunt
a man
and
though
one may
begin
to put
one boot
on at
a time,
the
emptiness
continues
to
linger
like
a summer
cold that
won't go
away....

George Jones
we salute you
for being
able
to so eloquently
deliver
a message
about
a bleeding
heart
that won't
heal
that just
won't heal.............................................
