Heart's Decay

Heart's Decay

A flashing blaze of heated rage
pierces the muted void.
Its brilliant rays reveal the maze,
of mistakes we could not avoid.

And there it lay for a precious instant,
though blurred through streams of tears.
The meandering path from brighter days,
and the way that has led us here.

A culmination of missteps taken,
like a string of blackened pearls.
Of fleeting moments and choices nestled...
among the depths of a darkened world.

And now...
With lips unkissed...
And bodies cocooned...

As the flames of rage again give way,
to the muted void of this hopeless place.
We find our tattered souls marooned....

In a blackened den of our hearts' decay.
