Heart's Key
I held a baby in my arms.
I looked down into his eyes.
I glimpsed a bit of Heaven!
I gaspย with sweet surprise!
I felt a toddler at my feet-
I knelt down and held him tight.
I prayed God would guide him always-
As he squealed with pure delight!
I saw a young boy running-
Flying a kite against the wind!
I could watch him like this forever!
My love for him has no end!
A young man approached me today-
For answers to questions upon his mind.
I gave him the best advice I could.
I noticed he was vulnerable and kind.
Today a man walked through my door!
I looked up into his eyes-
I still glimpsed that bit of Heaven!
I was not surprised.
This man is strong and beautiful!
My work with him is done.
From innocent babe to God fearing man-
He is my Heart's Key, my life, my son!
