Heritage Of The Heart

Heritage Of The Heart

Today I am closed and cloistered.

I need a time for my memories to mellow.

Within the sweet silence of my garden.

My phone disconnected just my own
thoughts.

I ned a respite from the guarded voices
of my friends.

Telling me of the passing a woman I once
loved.

Yes I have already heard, bad news has
speedy wings.

I sit in my chair and feel us as we were
long ago.

I turn on the lawn sprinkler

Seeing us making love

with the rain on the window pane.

Today there is a cool blue sky

with steam puffs of clouds.

Shapes change by the moment

A continent, a lion, an eagle,

they are fading into nothingness.

As we did then.

As she has now.
