Hiding From The World

For over a month I've seen you struggling.
I've told you I'm here if you need anything,
But behind your eyes I see a war you're losing.
And you've told me you're fine but we both now you're lying.
It's hurting me just standing by and watching.
When I see your inner demons, I want to start murdering.
Forget waiting for you to say something and start fighting.
When I see your brown eyes I want to start helping,
But you don't want me interfering.
"I'm fine" you keep saying.
Behind your walls I see you crying.
They're bringing you down and making you feel like you're dying.
I know I told you to tell me when you're ready but I want to start prying.
Nowadays when I ask if you're ok you go silent.
Just waiting for those three dots but once it makes the noise it goes quiet.
I just wished you could talk to me and be more reliant.
Yet you're acting like you have nobody and stranded on an island.
From the world and everyone around you you're hiding.
You remind me of a child in the dark who's frightened.
Scared to make a noise they keep their teeth biting.
I flick the switch in your dark room to help make it brighten.
Your fear heightens.
Nobody has ever turned on the light for you so your chest is rapidly rising.
You get up and push me out the door that you're now shutting.
Scared to let someone else in your room you don't try compromising.
Someone wanting to help you fight off the monsters was surprising.
That's why someone like that is terrifying.
They will hold you when you're stifling just to make you feel better and smiling.
They're the type of people who are mesmerizing.
So why would someone like that want to be in someone else's life for nothing?
It's because they see they're special and truly something.
So why when someone like that comes in our lives do we start pushing?
