His 80's

Spiky hair and tubs of wet look styling gel,
Leather jackets,
Cigarettes
The smell was in the air aswell as coal fed industries,
Family was key and even though it maybe now, still
It seems it's somewhat lazier
But blaming the TV and modern life is just as crazy
Anyone can see the times a' changin' baby,
Rapidly
Vinyl disc's and tape cassettes
Floppy drives to CD's
Memory sticks and Gigs' of RAM
Communication, wirelessly
Instead of corned beef sandwiches
It's fried chicken and fries
Again
Ignoring all your neighbours
Even if they only want to share a cup of tea with you
And talk awhile
No hidden agendas
People that could be your friends
If only you would let them
People started building walls
Stereotyping
Tainting people with a brush
Before they even get to know them
A unity existed that just seemed to fall apart
Broken up, fragmented
Torn up from within the goodness left inside our hearts
People want to get rich quick
No matter what, sometimes the case
Self respect is just left in the back seat of your Lamborgini
Next to your new girlfriend
Half your age, big fake tits
Spending her inheritance, before you even realise she's been sleeping with your piece of shit best mate
The same mate that you helped to build a business up
When he'd been fucked all over by his ex wife
Fuck the 80's
They were crap anyway.

I hated the 80s. Fuck the 80s! I'll drink to that. Fortunately I was born in 83 so all I can remember was Rick Astley. (I really used to hate that fucker, when I was an appreciate that's all the used to play on the local oldies radio station)

Family and friends were more actually  connected though. Seems the birth of the internet and such have changed that.

We're getting old lol.

Haha! Cheers mate! I was a kid and actually enjoyed the 80s for the age I was. But looking back, they were properly shit! I'd have hated to be a teenager then! Lol! Luckily, I came of age in time for (madchester) rock etc, and dance music etc. Mid 90s, which were, actually, very cool! â˜ș

A well deserved nomination John! I really enjoyed reading this..it truly captured so much of that period..I was  newly divorced, remarried and  then a mum to a new born during the 80's so lots of mixed memories good and not so good but totally reflective of life then..although I do miss the closer contact we humans had with each other  then..but then  I am a bit of a 'not very techy old foggie!!!
