Poem -

His Eyes

At first, you had me cautious.
A man too good to be true.
You promised you'd always be gentle.
I thought to myself, 'Please do.'

You said you were happy as my friend.
I believed that silly lie.
I thought, 'That's all this is going to be.'
But those eyes. . .

I told myself to take it slow,
Afraid to fall for another.
But then you asked; I jumped right in,
My happiness uncovered.

Everything moved so quickly.
I was taken by surprise.
Maybe this is just a dream.
But then I looked in those eyes.

Those eyes filled with promise.
Truth in the words you say.
Those eyes. I see my future.
I know you're here to stay.
