His Sleepless Night

She was the reason he couldn’t sleep,
In a fretful frenzy he paced the room;

Her picture in his palm he did keep

To recall her face, her sweet perfume.

Scents of roses and sandalwood,

Whirled wildly around his head,

Her essence got inside his blood,

Her words of love lay on his bed.

Silver moonlight did slowly seep

In through his bedroom curtain,

Ominous shadows too did creep,

From what, he couldn’t be certain.

Starlight gave a hypnotic charm

Yet, not as spellbinding as she,

In her absence he couldn’t keep calm,

Until he met her he wouldn’t feel free.

So he lay on his bed in a mental fog

Rereading her words of bliss,

Yet, he felt like the proverbial frog

Aching for his Princesses kiss.
