HITCHHIKER FROM HELL

HITCHHIKER FROM HELL

She sat beside me with eyes as wide as a full moon
Reaching into a worn leather bag
She plucks out her cracked iPod
And being watching looney toons

I tried to engage her in a conversation as we go
Knowing it will take a while before we reach her home
Twirling her hair and smiling to herself
I realized my mistake
I should of left this crackpot on the shelf

Once more her hand got lost in that faded leather bag
I wonder what in the world was going in her head
Then all of a sudden out came a razor blade
In what seems like slow motion
She began cutting away at her fingertips

She kept on laughing louder at the cartoons
I though to myself, this trip needs to end soon
Just then the blood began to flow
At first I was not certain of what I saw
Trying to focus on the road

I tried to get her attention to no avail
For she was too busy pealing off her skin
With that rusted razor blade

Glancing in my rear view mirror
In a far distance I could see
The flashing of red and blue lights
And for the first time in my life
I was not afraid of being in the presence
Of the police

I pulled my eighteen wheeler to the side of the road
The officer instructed us to stand on the curb
Pulling me aside he exclaimed
We were looking for your hitchhiker
Who had recently escaped
From the insane asylum.
