Homeless

Night falls quickly
Upon those who have no bed
They search for comfort
A place to lay their head
They weren’t always like this
They once had so much more
Yet they too have a story
They are broken to the core
They walk with heads bent over
They look towards the beaten ground
Ashamed and saddened
No hope to be found
Some people jeer at them
Some shake their heads in disgust
They keep on walking slowly
Their clothes laden in dust
Some take advantage
They know some are prey
Others are just lost
They can’t find their way
I know some are Angels
Put on this earth for a test
Some nights I feel guilty
Knowing I have a safe place to rest
It only takes one person
To start a domino affect
Reach out and help them
Do not give in to this neglect
In a perfect world, everyone would
be treated just and the same
Yet life sometimes gives people
An unfair, lopsided game
The next time you see someone
And you judge them from a far
Remember they may be an angel
Testing your heart and who you really are
God bless the meek and heavy laden

This is beautifully written and oh so very true. I do believe that some of them are angels giving us a test. I have almost been in a situation where I would've been rendered homeless or rather sitting on the side of the street for money. So whenever I see someone I give them whatever I can even if it's just a dollar or a bit of change. To many people shrug them off and won't give the time of day and it breaks my heart, it breaks my heart when I don't have anything to give. I had to pin this one, well done :)Â
