Poem -

The homeless are not bums!

You do something that's really dumb.
Everyday you call homeless people bums.
Like me and you, they're human beings.
But that's something you have trouble seeing.
What you say about the homeless really does suck.
You have no right to look down on people just because they're down on their luck.
When you see what they go through, you show no concern.
They need our help, maybe one day you'll finally learn.
Certain people won't help the homeless because it's not politically correct.
You and those people better start learning that homeless people deserve respect.

Greetings Randy,

I commend you whole heartedly for your introduction of this poem.Avery inspiring and unselfish,Ā piece of poetry. They to were people of great status, before they lost, that which they once proudly cherished, (a life they once called their own and i re-framed from saying proudly called their own), because no matter what their status, they to, do remainĀ Ā peopleĀ and still areĀ proud,Ā to be whom they are and the fact,Ā that they still have lifeĀ in their body, to be lived and by any means necessary, they proudly do try and live....I and my wife,Ā was at wal-marts just yesterday and as i was departing the parking area of this store, i observed a mother on the side of the road, leading from this stores parking lot, holding a card board sign,Ā statingĀ that, "she had just lost her home and had no where to go, nor no food for her and her (2) little ones to eat," as they set upon three little suit cases and it hurtĀ me to my heart, to see this but it humbled me as well, to see the sincerity of this mom trying to make due in her situation, not for herself but strictly for her children, as the sign further elaborated, "if you could bare anything even just change, i need nothing to eat for myself but for my children please spare.".It was so touching and heart felt by my wife and i,that my wife gave her ($50.00) and others that felt her support for her kids, gave as much as they could spare and it felt good, to see, that there still were people in this world, that were notĀ at all selfish human beings, thatĀ thought only of themselves and wasĀ kind enough to assist others in such need, as this lady and her (2) small children, she hadĀ setting patiently and unoblivious,Ā to their plight beside her....So all i wonna say, is thank you for sharing the feelings, ofĀ others in need, that can't speak nor reach out, to share their feelings,Ā needs and true support, themselves....

Sincerely,

Jim
