Homeless Friend

Gave a homeless man my ear and in return he gave me a beer. Spoke about how he had it all and came down with noone to call. He had knowledge to share and I gave him the warmth of my  humble spirit while conversing amicably in cold air. It was then my misunderstanding became  understanding when he said he had a son and the mother wouldn’t let him near. His words was heavy weight to me when I seen his tears.
hope was in my thoughts the only words I could vaguely hear. I hit the brakes on my thoughts when he said he needed a break a from hurt and  despair. his hands begin shivering as frost melt from his heart. The day he die will be the days she weeps for her son that daddy wasn’t there. It’s a tragic love story how a man loses everything and can’t break free from misery. Listening steadily as I translate the message that love is reality and being in-love is a fantasy. He cried softly through his words as he wiped his nose with the same tissue he had when his son was born while locked up as another man calls his son “My son”.
I begin my weekend meeting a homeless teen and ended it by meeting a homeless adult. So I thought immensely about love and the common word they held onto was “up”. Both had lovers they believed would help em, but in shock it was a knock from reality on their heads. Now they wander around with a knot on their heads wishing they could go back to be a better man
For myself that is not the future I invision, so when situations  go bad I just grab a pen and write what I can understand and with these deep emotions I have experienced brings me to my fireplace to burn the ink I wrote in flames. I wrote hell, but tried to erase my sins, but my time is running thin  stuck in this poetic trance I chose to live like it’s 2014 again. Faintly, I smile writing this poem to the distinct sounds of Link playing the ocarina of time, the song of storm have me reminiscing on the past when ignorance was bliss as a kid.
