HOOKER HEELS

Lightning flashing in the sky, Picking up a passerby
Red heels and a birthday cake, Tapping the wheel to stay awake
She gives me reason to drive on, I slap the dashboard to clear static love song
Looking over I asked, When will them dreams come true?
She didn't know me, she didn't have to
We both laughed, must have been lack of sleep
In the confinements of their comfort, Uptight class in their neatly tucked sheets
Are they really living?

You're one check away from the streets
One good deed away from trying
Are we really living?
`Cause baby, it feels like we're dying

Stopping at a pay phone to make a call
She said, "Don't wait up for me,I might be a loser, but I'm free"
Cause baby, out here we can be whatever we want to be
"I may be all them things, but not tonight"
Believing her second had dress would turn into a gown at midnight

You're one check away from the streets
One good deed away from trying
Are we really living?
`Cause baby, it feels like we're flying

The movie was written with a happy ending
The director picked the perfect closing song
As the credits rolled the lights came on
Looking over I noticed she was crying
Slowly turning to me, she asked
Are we really living?
`Cause baby, it feels like we're dying

You're one check away from the streets
One good deed away from trying
Are we really living?
`Cause baby, it feels like we're dying

Greetings Anthony,

Well versed poem.....Life and times of the working girl.....Sad fact of life sometimes we are living and sometimes we are dying....Situations  and money has away of depicting and or dictating our status in life but that which does not kill us, makes us stronger and sometimes that which leaves us broken can be apprehended at the path, and it may leave us knowing we have been in a struggle but the effort to fight, leaves us a little bent instead broken.... Very good job..
