Hope You Know

Hope You Know

I may, have been the son
That walked away
But you were the one
Who abandoned me

I flew four thousand
Miles to see you
But everything you promised
Wasn't the truth

I dropped everything
Just to see you
But I was stupid
I didn't have a clue

And now

I hope you know
I won't leave my daughter
I'll pick her up
And be a fauther
Unlike you
I'll make sure she's ok
I know
I will make mistakes
But unlike you
I'll love her
And I'll keep my promise
To never leave, my daughter

When I was with you
You screamed
Over little things,
But when you wanted something,
You said please

I wonder how
Your new husband
Puts up with you now

And I wonder
Why you did worse things
To my sister

Well, I hope you know
I won't leave her
I'll hold her tight
Like a big brother
And unlike you
I'll be by her side
Unlike you
I won't tell her lies

We may have been the ones
That don't wanna see you
But that's because
You never told the truth

It hurt both of us
But at least from that
We learned to love

We hope you know
You were the reason
We had to go
I hope you realize
We don't believe your lies
