How Deep the Pain

Imagine: cast from heaven, and torn asunder; and so many
Deaths forgiven; and so many lies washed. I dare the forest;
And plead the Light; and something stabs: a sickle steel;
And something wails; a soulful kiln; and deep the banks: a

Shore of pain; and deep the mind: a portrait cross; and I
Plead mercy: asearch the Kingdom; and I beg Wisdom:
Flood the night. So much design; and we think not; and so
Much pain; and we weigh not; but burn wicks; and fathom

Life: to flit and fly; and so crooked—a slanted pole; and
So straight—a wall of clocks; and learn her eyes, a jasmine
Scent; and earn her heart, a jasper tear. So much design;
And we wail death—afraid to fly; and so much glass, a
Grove of shards; and tip a toe—a world of pain; and bleed
A palm, a tent of prayer.
