How Memories are Made...

How Memories are Made...

If walls could but speak of memories past
They would tell of the welcome knock at the door
And  ushering in of  the folks we adore

They’d  remember each room with  broad  nostalgic smiles
The hot kitchen  smelling of Turkey and  sauce
The foods that we know says ‘I love you ’of course

The stairs would resound with the trampling  stampede
of excitement unbounded by  tiny  wee feet.
The tree is all sparkling, bedecked with  the  gifts

The  table groans loudly ‘neath  weight of delights
The crackers in coats painted  red, gold and white
set  to explode kingly hats and mottoes

A wry smile remembering the pudding and jelly,
Gran on the Bailey’s,the Queen on the tele,
and kids  with  too many sweets in their belly,

Charades are all played
to much laughter and roaring
Dad’s eyes are just closing, mouth open and snoring!

The Hall clock is chiming the hours of the day.
It’s now getting dark  as the guests make their way,
back to their homes to relax and review.

The kids in their bedrooms, now  major toy zones,
The dogs walked and watered and chewing new bones.
The dishwasher working, the house put to bed.

And so to the bedroom, what memories here?
Mum needing some  time to unwind and just pause
And waits for her ‘gift’ from  her own Santa  Claus!

A little early I guess but Merry Christmas Season all!!

Hello Stevie C...

I started getting ready for Christmas right after Christmas last year...

?

My Christmas lasts all year long...

I just have a few more presents to wrap...

I started a new Tradition and since it takes a year until I can do it again I don't lose my Christmas Spirit...

But, I do enjoy the Holidays and Seasons that takes it from one to another...

The Stores think they're helping themselves by displaying Christmas before Halloween even gets here...

That stops me in my Tracks, because that's my sign to wrap up my buying...

I just have the normal last minute stuff to get...

People think I'm crazy, but every year there's more kids and they get older and their parents and other Grandparents are struggling so that's why...

I don't get their Christmas lists until around Halloween and I get them a couple of things from their lists and it's a wrap...

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day I relax and enjoy!

I get treated like a Queen...

Great Holiday write!

Thank you for sharing...

Happy Holidays!

Hugs...
