How To Write A Poem and How To Write Your Very First Poem
Two Poems On Poem Writing
Will your poem stand the test of time?
It has to be good it doesn't have to rhyme.
Some people think of writing one,
Simply take your time it can be done.
Use words like God love heart and divine,
Readers cherish these for they are so fine.
My favourite poet is Ella Wheeler Wilcox,
She's forever a poetry genius voice-box.
For you it might simply be Shakespeare,
So keep paper pen or quill quite near.
Write it simple and write it neat,
Write it honest, don't ever cheat.
You can make it happy you can make it sad,
Please write it good and don't write it bad.
You can use a phrase that's fine and gleaming,
And also insert a word with a double meaning.
Words are your friends to pick and choose,
Assort them right and you can never lose.
Maybe think up a story that's rich and thick,
Fingers crossed that should do the trick.
Don't over-indulge don't guild the lily,
It'll be a mess and read quite silly.
Keep all your notes don't throw them away,
You may spot something missed yesterday.
Look back on them at your own leisure,
For they may contain a hidden treasure.
So write with love write with passion,
Write it in your own unique fashion.
Haven't a clue knowing where to start.
My mother taught me always follow your heart.
It could be a great classic it might fall flat,
At least you've tried and what's wrong with that.
I hope it catches my eye one day,
And if it's for sale I'll gladly pay.
So strive and aim to set your poem high,
Perhaps a message on which people rely.
I wish you well all the very best,
So start writing now you know the rest.
They say there's a book in everyone,
There's at least a poem so have some fun!

How To Write Your Very First Poem
Nothing is ever impossible,
Always bear that in mind.
In the world of poetry,
The answers you will find.
What to think up,
Simply where to start.
Take your time,
And don't lose heart.
Poems are stories,
Stories to write.
Just words on paper,
Black on white.
Poems are everywhere,
No big surprise.
Just look around,
To find your prize.
Write about anything,
Stormy seas, quiet streams.
Candyfloss and kittens,
Nightmares or dreams.
Pen and paper ready,
Maybe a comfy chair.
Under a leafy tree,
Doesn't matter where.
Just gaze around,
Set your mind free.
Write a few lines
On what you see.
With your notes,
These you can nurse.
To nurture some lines,
That becomes a verse.
Your very first poem,
Doesn't have to rhyme.
Who knows what surprises,
Await you second time...
Good Luck!
Dedicated to my late mother Margaret.

Rob, it's all about heart as my late mum would say and this was up as one a while back but I wrote the second one and decided in for a penny, in for a pound.
So 2 for the price of one.
And Rob a little poetry bird landed on my poetry personal message shoulder and poetically whispered in my poetic ear that I should read your poems, especially one in particular...
Which I will do after a quick cuppa, for I'm dry as a bloody bone.
Thanks Rob for your superb and uplifting comments and to recap it is ALL about heart.
